Hello, yes you can print one sided with this printer, just change the settings as you are using the device, yes it is easy to change the preferences on the printer. Yes, when scanning with this printer you can do it through the automatic document feeder and the file size is dependent upon the program that you are saving it to. Traditionally it will allow all the scans to be scanned into one file but that is dependent upon the size and file transfer options you're going to be using to share the scan with. Many people will break the scans up into two files in order to share them more easily. This printer will scan PDF, JPG, TIFF. Thank you for being an HP customer.
