• You don't have to fan out the paper. I know what you mean , my last printer was the same....temperamental. Haven't had any issues like that with this one. I just grab a stack of paper ( I'm guessing 50 sheets) and load them in with no problem.

• No. I haven't fanned out the paper and it fed just fine. If yours is not working properly you may want to have it checked to see if it's defective.
