Yes, this printer does double-side printing automatically, so you won't have to do it manually. Hope this answers your question!

It's not very fast but perfectly adequate for small/medium jobs. (I wouldn't load a stack of 100 sheets unless I had lots of time..) So far I like my 6978. It replaced an OfficeJet that I had for about 10(?) years.
