There are a few differences but those differences are very impactful. First, it is not really accurate to say that one is any better than the other. The 6978 is designed for a different amount of printing. The HP 8710 series printers are designed for heavy usage, if you think a ream of paper would last you 1-6 months then the 8710 is the printer I recommend. 4-9 months? The 6978. 6 months to a year or more? The OfficeJet 5255. Overall, the key differences between the 6978 and 8715 is the cartridge sizes (and yield) the speed, and the size. Those things all tilt in the 8710 series printers favor. But it is not good to get the larger printer just because its "bigger and better". By far the most savings comes in making sure you are not buying a printer with ink cartridges that are too big or too small. You dont want the ink to run out every few weeks or months and you certainly dont want all the ink you purchased drying out before you use it all!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Only difference is the 8715 can hold more paper
