“if one of the cartridges is empty will it still print, or must I replace it before it will print?”

• I have found that it has printed when one cartridge was empty. I have never had more than one empty at a tine.

• You will get a bit of a grace period, but ultimately yes, you need all 4 inks in place. Ink needs to flow through the print head similar to how oil keeps your car's engine running smoothly.
