That's what happened with my 6500. Was not able to repair it. Bought 8520.

I push my paper as far as I can to the back of the paper tray, maybe try that, maybe there is a sensor that the paper has to activate at the back of the paper tray. Hope that helps. If not keep taking it back to the Geek Squad, after three repairs they replace it with the same (if you want & available) or u can get a credit for the unit and get something else. Just make sure you do this while the warranty is still in effect.
