• There is alot of good external HD out there but you should upgrade using a internal SSD, its easy and fast upgrade, and cheap also. If you want external HD anyway get one that connects with thunderbolt or usb-c I added a few products a recommend.. Goodluck

• Buy an M.2 NVME for this laptop instead of an external hard drive because HP provides an extra slot to plug and play. 1TB can cost around $90-150 and 2TB can range from $210-400 depending on how fast you want it. If you don't care about speed or portability, I've tried a 2TB Seagate 5400rpm hard drive for $80 which is great for an external hard drive over USB3.
