It will always store on C, unless you choose to do D. If you install Steam, put it on D and all the subsequent games try go to D. I only use C: for windows, everything else I select D.

I recommend using the "Quick Access" feature in file explorer. That way you can quickly click on the directory where you want to save files, instead of manually navigating every time.
