Is the harddrive on this machine SSD? null

No. But worth it to buy an SSD later on.

It is flash memory. Faster than a HDD, slower than a proper SSD. But Chrome opens very fast, and works very fast, due to the flash memory and the lightweight operating system. If you like to open many tabs (more than three) I suggest the version with 4 GB RAM.
