• there 2 slots. 1 of them is already populated the other one is empty. The Batter is unknown.

• HP support is dead wrong. There are two M.2 slots. I am typing out this answer on a 16-xf0033dx with a 2nd M.2 2280 SSD (2tb) installed only a few days ago. Just be sure to get a proper SSD with speeds near or above 7000mb/s from a reputable company (WD_BLACK SN850X is what I am using) and definitely test/monitor the heat.
