“The graphics card and processor are considered high end but why is the screen resolution top out at 1080p? It seems like a waste of power to not offer at least 1440p.”

The computer does offer 165Hz refresh and maximum graphics at that refresh rate. That's why it has the power that it does while seemingly having a "low" resolution.
