I experienced this when using my own display port. Use the one that came with the monitor also check whichever HDMI cable you use. Basically the problem is the cable and not the monitor itself.

Beyond the suggestion for changing the cable out to see if that's the problem, make sure that the cable is firmly connected at both ends. If neither of those things work, your best bet is to contact HP support at 800-727-2472.
