While you cannot physically remove/disconnect the built-in speaker system (without technical expertise and the right tools, voiding the warranty), you can certainly disable the built-in speakers so that they are no longer used as the default option. Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Playback Under the Playback panel, you should see all of your audio outputs. Find the speaker option that reflects the name or other indicator of it being the monitor's speakers. Once you click it, you can select Properties, and then next to Device Usage you can select "Don't use this device (disable)" from the drop-down menu. After this, you can go back to the Playback panel and find your headphones. Click on those, and then select "Set Default" so that they are always used with your system, even after your restart. If doing this doesn't help, here's a link to a forum where another solution is discussed: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/monitors-audio-output-keeps-re-enabling-even/2213ff6a-e877-482f-8ca4-49f28c6b8113 Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you for your question about this monitor. I am sorry that you are having issues with sound source. You can override the sound source in the Windows audio settings. You access them by right-clicking on the speaker icon in your system tray, then click "Sound Settings." The first heading is "Output" and you can modify that so when you attach headphones, the audio will feed through those.
