Im not sure what apps cant be downloaded. I tried to install the google playstore and couldnt. Havent tried to install google chrome, but am thinking no to that too. This was supposed to replace my galaxy tablet, but it doesnt i still have to use both. I cant sync my aol email address to this. Yeah i know its an old app, but have had this for over 20 years and some people still use it. I know this doesnt help much, but i have not had this for very long and havent taken the time to see exactly what it can and cant do.

If it's not in the Microsoft Store, then you can't install it in the laptop. So it basically turns this laptop into a sort of phone or tablet that can only install apps from the central Store. Which, IMO, is a very restrictive mode. Since Google Chrome isn't in the Microsoft Store, you won't even be able to install that. You can't install Mozilla Firefox either. Basically anything downloaded from the internet (outside of the Store) cannot be installed. Which in Microsoft's eyes makes this a fairly secure and malware/junkware free laptop. So if you don't mind using Microsoft Edge as your browser and don't use anything not in the Microsoft Store, then S Mode is for you. If you want to have a normal laptop like you're used to, then switch out of S Mode by searching in the Microsoft Store for "S Mode". But once you get out of S Mode, they say you can't go back (but why would you want to).
