To be honest, you're looking at an 8 year old refurbished system. To speed it up, you'd need to at the very least replace the processor, which is going to probably cost as much or more than the system did when you bought it, and you'd also want to add another 4 gigbytes of RAM to reduce the amount of swapping to the hard drive. If you're finding it slow, your best bet would be to return it and find a newer system.
