Q: QuestionI have a old HP C5250 that just suddenly stopped working. I have a 74xl black ink cartridge that I placed a few weeks ago (65$ ). On Amazon, it states that the HP 5540 will accept the 74 xl. I would like to confirm that 5540 will take 74xl

• A:Answer The 74xl cartridge only fits in the following printers: HP Officejet J5780 (Q8232A#ABA) ; HP Photosmart C5280 (Q8330A#ABA) ; HP Photosmart C5580 (Q8341A#ABA) ; HP Photosmart D5360 (Q8361A#B1H) ; HP Photosmart C4480 (Q8388A#ABA) ; HP Photosmart C4385 (CC281A#ABA) ; HP Officejet J6480 (CB029A#ABA) ; HP Photosmart C4280 (CC210A#ABA) ; HP Photosmart C4599 (Q8408A#ABA) ; HP Photosmart C4580 (Q8401A#ABA) ; HP Deskjet D4360 (CB700A#B1H) ; and HP Deskjet D4260 (CB641A#B1H). The 5540 printer does not take the 74xl cartridge. The Envy 5540 printer uses the 62 ink cartridge series.
