“Will this connect to a compatible HP desktop with USB 2.0 or the old "ethernet" cords? Does it come with any sort of connection cord? I have no "home system" wifi.”

You can connect this printer to a computer using the USB A to B cable (or USB 2.0 cable). The USB cable is not included with this printer.
