This would be an excellent laptop for traveling with it's light weight and thin profile. It would easily handle Netflix and other office-like activities, including Photoshop and mid-level video editing. As far as the gaming goes, it depends on which games you intend to play. It probably will be hit and miss with newer titles, but less-demanding games should work. As an example: I was able to get Killer Instinct to run with playable performance. To do so, I had to drop the resolution and other effects to their minimum. Not bad at all. As a tip, if you do get this laptop and are pushing it's limits for gaming, you may want to make sure and set it's power options to "Maximum Performance". That way it won't throttle it's performance to extend battery life, and instead let it perform at it's maximum. :)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This laptop does not have many reviews because it just came out and not many people have bought it. It is also good for all the things you described.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is fairly new, so reviews are still coming in I'm sure, but Netflix does run great, even casting it to a Chromecast works very well, no studdering or other problems. It is designed to be easy to travel, its size is perfect to throw in almost any size space - about .5" wider and about 1.5" longer than a sheet of paper. As long as your notes don't include using a stylus for drawings or diagrams, this would be great but with no touch capability, that could be a drawback. Remember to pick up a USB-C to HDMI/VGA adapter if you do presentations, while it does have three ports they are USB-C only. As far as gaming, I haven't done much with that yet but I would be surprised if it did too well on anything that requires much horsepower. The CPU would do fine until heat builds up, but the onboard graphics would be the limiting factor. Older games or those with low-end graphics would do fine, but that is definitely not what this machine was designed for!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The laptop is still very new, so I would guess that's why there are not that many reviews for it yet. Give it a little time and more reviews should start showing up on the site. As far as recommending the Spectre, I'm a student as well. I LOVE how light this laptop is. The screen may not be 4K, but it's still HD (1080p) and content still looks good. While the speakers are decent, I would still use headphones when watching Netflix. Taking notes is actually pretty good on the Spectre, since the keyboard is surprising great given how thin the laptop is. They keys actually have decent travel distance. If I could complain about the keyboard, it would be that they are a little loud, almost like a mechanical keyboard (I don't think it is mechanical, but I could be wrong). The Spectre doesn't have a dedicated GPU, it has Intel HD graphics. You could get away with casual games (I like to play Hearthstone on the Spectre), but I don't think you would be able to get away with more graphic-intensive games like Doom.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Probably not many reviews because it's still relatively new (as of 5/26 when I wrote this) and it's not a mainstream market laptop so there are correspondingly less people buying it to review it. It's a beautiful laptop though and with it's lightweight, thin build, and native Full HD display, I'd think your uses are just about ideal.
