“I got the laptop. The disk space is down to 420 GB already out of the box. This is after I installed all the software (like McAfee, etc.). This is quite a difference from the 512GB. Is this normal or perhaps something wrong with the SSD?”

• This normal because the operating systems and the recovery partition on the drive will use up some of the 512gb space.

• Once you've installed everything, 420 gigabytes of free space sounds about right. If you're still concerned about the amount of free space, you may want to check with the HP support team, who should have more complete information.
