“How much free RAM as shipped? When you got the machine out of the RAM installed how much was available as shipped to you? I'm debating whether to get the 256 or 512GB version.”

I bought the 256 gb model and found I have a lot of free space with all of my apps loaded on it. I also debated getting the larger drive but didn't think the extra cost was worth it. I can always replace my drive with a larger one later if I need more space and as larger drives get cheaper. If you need to store a significant amount of large files like uncompressed video, audio and photos. Keep in mind you can always use one of the large size usb drives as additional storage

RAM, short for random access memory, is temporary, higher speed storage, hard drive space (or ssd in this case) is the more permanent storage for programs and files while not in use. 256gb is more than adequate unless you are storing a lot of large files such as games, movies, or billions of photos
