“If I don't print enough to need an ink delivered in a month will i still be charged for the ink cartridges and receive them? Can I use my iPad and print from it? Can it print Excell document? I'm looking for a printer not just one for pictures”

You will still be charged monthly (or you can input a pre-paid balance that your account draws from) for the service of Instant Ink, even if you rarely need cartridge replacements. This is a great machine for all kinds of printing, not just photos! And yes, it is compatible with an iPad!
