• Yes, the device will need to be paired to your cellular device to take full advantage of tracking steps and physical activity, and it works very well. This device is designed to use the Android Wear app and we cannot speak on behalf of the compatibility of 3rd party apps. [sv]

• Yes It can traconvert your steps and physical activity automatically and no you can not use it without your phone near you I tried it and I don't know about the fit bit app.
