Hello Bert, I appreciate your interest in our baby monitor! Yes, our HubbleClub app is compatible with iOS and Android, and it also comes with a lifelong free membership. Hence, most features like manual recording and motion detected snapshots are free of charge, live streaming, and many more. The connection between the parent unit and camera always works via FHSS technology, a kind of radiofrequency. Only the camera is WiFi compatible, so if you wish, you can access the camera live stream and use all features from anywhere through your phone. If you do not wish to use the WiFi option, no problem, it will still work without any problems. I hope this clears it up a bit.
