• Absolutely, you can ride this as just a traditional bicycle. You can turn the electric assist off if you prefer.

• You dont have too you use it theirs speeds on the control screen and if you select "0" the motor can free spin without cause the rider more restriction while pedaling vs shutting off the battery and just pedaling.
