• You can not connect it through regular usb. You will need a message on your laptop “not enough power for Apple accessories” Solution- you need to purchase usb-c adapter for the drive and use the top usb-c port on the hub.

• No! the HyperDrive hub is junk. Found this out the hard way. Purchased an Apple AV connector, connected the SuperDrive USB A to it - viola - it works great.
