You have ten seconds to choose "parking mode" when you turn off your ignition. I was told when I purchased this camera that if an impact was sensed that the recording would go for the 10 seconds prior to the impact--which would show what triggered the camera. I purchased the camera for this reason--so that I could see the who, what, when, and where of my vehicle being damaged. However, this is not correct. It only records after an impact or the g-sensor is triggered. The instructions say it records for 11 seconds--it does not. It only records for 10 seconds--both the front and back camera recording is saved. It does not have night vision so if your vehicle is in a dark place with no light, you can't see anything, but it does record audio. Shortly after I had it installed, my car was dented on the hood--right in front of the camera and nothing was caught on camera. So it is likely that the perpetrator hit the hood and ducked below the front of the car where the camera can't see. It makes a very audible sound when it begins recording--I really wish it didn't! And you can't turn that part off.
