The item can be used for school research, internet and social media it many other capabilities.

Please try again later.While this product is built to handle video-game play, it can be also used for educational purposes such as browsing the internet for research on a project this child has for school, or you can download a Document or Slideshow program from the Microsoft Store/internet for the child to put their work from school and such. There could be other reasons for not using this device to play games, but if you're worried about the 12 year old playing videogames, just tell them to go outside and play and make them chores.
