“When I plug the external speakers to the green output no sound comes to the external speakers it keeps coming out of the speakers built into the monitor. How do I move the sound from the monitor to my external stereo speakers? Thank you.”

You may have to manually go to the sound settings and choose the external speakers. I just plugged them into the headphone jack on top.
