• The iBT29 connects to iOS devices via bluetooth to play audio. The USB port in the back is for charging other devices.

• Yes as long as you have no issues with the iphone as it connects with bluetooth. The phone also can be connected to the back of the radio via lightning (you provide your own charging cord) to charge (to reduce your outlet needs), but it's not necessary.
