It basically covers and protects the top and bottom of case, as well as the corners and all sides. The dot is a design embedded on the case. It’s a clear matte with dot design as seen in include pic. Smooth to the touch.

But the case protects it from scratches and small dents from something hitting it. It’s not impact protection. I put stickers on mine and it does work great for that too. Instead of putting them on your expensive MacBook
