You have 3 options for venting. The internal vent up from the cook top thru Charcoal activated screens venting back into the room out of the top, front vents of the unit. This would be your internal wall installation without any ducting. This can take care of some smells but will not filter a lot of smoke. Option 2 is through the top of the cabinet, this is the preferable option removing all smells and smoke to the outside approved vent. Option 3 is the least popular as it requires a wall channel to be installed and it vents all smells and smoke out the back of the unit again to an approved vent to the outside.
