“Why can't I use hot water for wash cycle with a one faucet sink? I would switch to cold water for the rinse cycle. I was told by a customer service rep that the material up make of the hot water intake and cold water intake on the machine are the same.”

I use Hot Water for the wash, then I turn on the cold for rinse. But you could leave the Hot water on the whole time if you want. If you have two hook ups (hot and cold) then the machine will always rinse cold, most washing machines do that.
