• I'm a truck driver and I use it with a 1800 watt inverter. I don't know the exact wattage it uses but it can run while using other devices. Fridge must stand out and not sit in a cabinet so would suggest setting on a seat, floor, or top bunk so it doesn't overheat

• No, it is only recommended that the original power cable be used to connect the fridge into a standard 110V outlet.
