“Does this tablet support USB OTG? Just having a USB port does not necessarily support this function, I think it's a hardware vs a software issue. In short can you plug a flash drive or other usb device in, and will the tablet recognize it? Thanks.”

Yes, the charging port is a micro USB port that can be used as a normal USB port (when not charging) but requires a micro USB to standard USB dongle. It even works with a powered USB hub for use with multiple devices such as a mouse and keyboard.
