Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's unwieldy and easily dropped. I don't believe that a "bumper" is available, either. I'd say a smaller size, and bumpered, may prove better for an adolescent. I' m not certain of "kiddie,' tabs, but they are bumpered and may offer better parental control. Mine fell over a stand and onto a hard floor, and it survived. (I'm 60 and :prefer bumpers.) Really, this is intended for an adult--perhaps with a keyboard case or Bluetooth keyboard and a suitable stand--for relaxed coffee-shop duty, in place of a laptop. Given the price, nonetheless--and that your adolescent is the careful, cautious sort---go for it, if you wish. The screen protector affixed upon it is suitable, for a while. Obtain a suitable folding case or keyboard case, and perhaps a micro-SD card. Android may be configured with parental control, anyway. Nougat offers further refinement over Marshmallow--I prefer each succeeding Android version upgrade, so far. According to anecdotes, gaming isn't a forte--it's fine with simpler games like chess and mahjongg, nonetheless. (Powerful Windows desktop PCs and gaming consoles, like XBOX One, Wii U, and Playstation PS4, rule gaming, anyway.) Surfing, school work, financial, documents, and audio/video etc. shouldn't be a problem. (Over the years, fabricators have tended to use the same chipsets--even given larger screen sizes.) As for obtaining more expensive branded products instead, in a year or two that won't matter--right? l! considered branded, but this has most of the features of any of those brandeds proving somewhat reasonable--certainly display quality and memory match up very well..Given most families, and even most adults nowadays, this tablet proves a gift that will "pop!". (Done on my Flex....)
