Hello Jaye, There is a humidity control gauge on the crisper that can be used to control the level of humidity inside the crisper. The single water drop indicates less humid conditions. The three water drops indicate more humid conditions. Move the slider to change the setting. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine doesn't have the water drops that the answer and manual mention. Perhaps mine is the prior model or the newer one. Instead, it has fruit-type symbols on the left (a strawberry and apple/pear) and vegetable-type symbols on the right (a carrot and broccoli). But unlike the illustration, I have two separate bins, which would help separating the two, but only one slider for both of them. which totally negates the advantage of having two separate bins. So my guess is that if you have 'mostly' fruit, you slide the control to the left, which opens the vents, for more moisture, while if you have 'mostly' vegetables, you slide the control to the right, which closes the vents, for less moisture.
