“The manual gives you a choice of memory sources for the photos of "all dir" or "current dir." What on earth does that mean? What is "dir" for starters? Thank you”

"DIR" is a abbreviation for directory. You can have several directories on the memory card you use with this frame. One directory may be vacation pictures, another may be photos of family, etc. Selecting "all dir" would play all photo on the card. Selecting "current dir" will only display photos from that specific directory.
