• I am using a leather fold up case and with the front fold flipped behind (where it charges) the phone surprisingly still charged. So yes it will charge through your life proof case.

• Depending on how thick the case maybe, the sensor won’t pick it up. I have to move my iPhone 8+ around alittle until I get the charging signal sign. Good luck.
