To provide correct ventilation allow at least 8 in. (20.3 cm) between the left and right sides of your refrigerator and surrounding walls and at least 2 in. (5.1 cm) between the back and top of your refrigerator and the surrounding wall and ceiling.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I received the following reply from Insignia: "The information on the manual is correct. This is advised to keep the compressor with an appropriate airflow, so it won't overheat, causing the unit to malfunction. It is highly recommended to leave enough space between the wall and the unit, so if 8 inches are too much, you can try separating the appliance at least 5 inches from the wall." One of the boundaries in our kitchen will be a countertop with a cabinet below, so the top half of the fridge on that side would be fully exposed to the air. The other boundary is a wall 5 inches away. So I went ahead and ordered this model.
