• I think it is ok to plug in outlet cord, but the best is plug in to house outlet. Hope you enjoy your beverage fridge.

• I am not sure what you mean by a normal plug. The plug on the fridge is a standard 3 prong plug that should work with any homes electrical built in the last 45 years.
