Computer with 3.0 will see it as 3.0 and a printer that’s 2.0 will see it as 2.0. Then the devices will use the highest that both can use. In your case 2.0. If this doesn’t work it more likely an issue with your devices and not the cable. But wouldn’t hurt to test with a shorter cable.
