“The wires all black and grey. How do I tell which is positive and negative?”

• Grey = positive and Black = negative. Just try using one set of wires at a time and when it spins your good if you don't hook up to the power supply on the first try it should be fine, it was in my case as I hooked up a 12VDC 900mA cell phone charger to the wrong set of wires and then to the correct ones after it didn't work and it's been running perfectly for months now.

• I presume black should be negative, just like in the car battery. The red is positive and black is negative. So, I do not know if it is same thing with the fan.

• the power plug is universal --so this is not an issue --unless you plan to splice the wires then im not sure --trial and error --but be aware you may get electrical interference in your cabinet if you do splice

• Evidently you aren't using it for it's intended purpose being plugged in to a motherboard... It's just an electric motor. Plug it in. If it spins the wrong way switch.

• There should be a plastic piece on the motherboard fan header. Line up the connector with that piece and that should be the the right charge to each.

• This product has a plug that can only be plugged in the correct way.

• This fan has the 4-pin connector. The connecters will make sure all the wires get connected correctly. Removing the 4-pin connector is not recommended.

• There should be a white strip that goes down the side of one the wires. That will tell you if witch one is Positive.

• The connector will have a inward or protruding notch so that you are not able to plug it in backwards or in reverse
