• I have always kept my freezers in the middle in this case it would be on 5. It works fine for me.

• We've been using 0 (zero) and it's working fine. Yes, it would've been nice to have the leaflet provide the ideal settings guidance. We based out setting on our refrigerator's freezer setting.
