• I use rechargeable AA with a D plastic adapter and it works great.

• I am using 2 eneloop AA size batteries with the adapter for D size battery and it works fine. So using a recharge D size battery should be no problem.

• At the end of the day, it is still a D sized battery so it should fit and work. Remember not to throw out the battery :P
