Our of the box the handle is not attached; So you could esily just not install the handle when setting it up. Seems like it should work just fine without a handle, though: it may be mildly harder to open, the handle mounting holes are a bit gnarly/ugly, and you would lose the ability to lock the lid.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You will need the handle. It also has a 1 1/2" hinge behind freezer. We also have it 4 1/2" from wall and it would hit the wall if I'm not holding it. The freezer needs air to flow all around it.
