Hello mike, thank you for your question. On the Insignia 16 lb. Portable Icemaker, the electronic cleaning cycle works by circulating a cleaning solution you add yourself, even though the unit doesn’t use a filter or descaling powder by default. You simply fill the reservoir with water mixed with a mild cleaning agent (like vinegar), and the machine runs that solution through its internal water path to help remove mineral buildup.
