“Is the refrigerator suppose to have a panel covering the back motor area ??? There is nothing covering it. My understanding is a back cover panel is important for proper functioning.”

Hello TPain, No covers ,the lack of a cover lowers the cost and also lets heat dissipate more efficiently from the back. As long as it's not touching the wall, which you shouldn't do anyway, there should be no problem without the cover. Insignia Support Louise www.insigniaproducts.com/support
