“When I connect this to my phone, the sound is pretty low. This soundbar was not doing this when I first bought it and connected it to my phone. But it connects to my laptop and the sound gets nice and loud. Why is it low when it connects to my phone?”

Most phones have a volume limiter, and it will sometimes re-set when reconnecting a device. Try turning up the volume on the phone itself, and you may get a warning. Acknowledge the warning, and you should be able to increase the volume.
