I would buy the optical cable. Obviously, if you are using this, you do not like the sound from the current source. Quite often that problem persists through the analog connection to this sound bar. Using the optical connection will quite possible resolve that issue. I had the same concerns but bought the optical cable due to some research I had performed. I tested both the analog (RCA) cables and the optical and the difference was astounding. The source had terrible sound through its speakers and I am certain the digital signal is handled much better by that unit than the analog (RCA) cables.
