No I have to mess with it every time the tv is turned off or a channel is changed.

We don't have trouble when changing channels, either, other than the fact different channels seem to broadcast at different volumes. We are able to control the volume level with our xfinity remote, as our TV is an Insignia Roku that we were able to pair with the xfinity remote. So other than the fact that all broadcasters are completely ignoring the law about not making commercials louder than the programs, we don't have too many problems.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No it does not. It has it's own remote which I turn on every morning, then I just leave it on all day. With some televisions, you might be able to designate the soundbar as your output for sound. I prefer to hear the t.v. and the soundbar together.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, this soundbar will pair with the Comcast/Xfinity remote. I had to do some experiments to get the right combinations. I tried the 15" insignia first and then this sound bar thinking there was a flaw. I hooked up different TV's too. Here is what I discovered: 1 hook it up with the red and white RCA jacks. I found that the digital optical cable causes a problem with the remote sensor at times. when turning the TV on or off it would go out of phase. the TV would tun off and the bar stays on . then vice versa. 2. I am running the audio directly from the cable box to the sound bar for best sound. the audio is still pretty good from the TV to the bar. The TV brand may make a difference. I hooked it up to the Polaroid TV and the on/off was flaky with the cable remote. On the Sylvania TV it is fully in sync. This bar is great in the master bedroom which is what I wanted. I activated the bass and was really impressed. This may not be the system to "Boom, shake shake shake the room". I not sure if local rappers want to borrow my system but for the price and the ease of actual installation, this audio component does a really good job. I have had this a week and you will be very satisfied with the sound quality and the power.
